What Families Want to Know
Getting Started & Scheduling
Comfortable athletic clothing is perfect for a first visit—no uniform is needed. If you decide to continue training after your free trial class, we'll help you get fitted for the appropriate uniform and belt.
Just bring a water bottle and comfortable clothing that's easy to move in. We'll provide any equipment needed for the class, and one of our instructors will guide you through everything when you arrive.
Absolutely. Parents are always welcome to observe from our viewing area. Many families enjoy watching their child's confidence and progress grow from one class to the next.
Simply give us a call, send us an email, or complete the contact form on our website. We'll help you find a class that fits your schedule and confirm your visit as soon as possible.
No problem. Students can typically make up a missed class in another session that month within their program. Just let an instructor or the front desk know so we can help you find a good makeup time.
Absolutely. Many students feel a little nervous before their first class. Our instructors create a welcoming, encouraging environment where every child can learn at their own pace and gradually build confidence.
Programs & Belt Progression
We offer Little Star for ages 4–6, Taekwondo Kids for ages 7–12, and Teen & Adult classes for ages 13 and up. Each program is designed to support the unique developmental needs of that age group.
Age is a helpful starting point, but we also consider maturity, confidence, and previous experience. During your free trial class, we'll recommend the program that best supports your child's growth.
Students go through a structured belt system consisting of 15 levels, starting from white belt, moving through yellow, orange, and beyond, ultimately reaching black belt. Once students demonstrate full mastery of the required techniques and forms at their current level, they become eligible for testing.
Most dedicated students earn their Black Belt in about 3 years of consistent training. Every student's journey is different, however, and advancement depends on steady progress, attendance, and readiness rather than a fixed timeline.
Students who are ready typically have the opportunity to test every 2 months. Testing is based on demonstrated readiness, ensuring every promotion reflects meaningful achievement.
Yes. Leadership is an important part of the UTO experience. As students progress, they have opportunities to mentor newer classmates, assist instructors, and participate in Leadership Club as they continue developing their skills.
Never. Our Teen & Adult program welcomes beginners of all experience levels. Many adults join for fitness or self-defense and continue training because of the confidence, community, and personal growth they discover along the way.
Competition is completely optional. Students interested in tournaments receive preparation, while those training for personal growth can continue progressing through the standard curriculum without competing.
